Good Grades Lead to Good Food

It’s lunchtime, and hundreds of students from freshmen to seniors are lined up outside of the gym. But what are they all so excited for? Pizza of course! Nothing gets a student’s attention like food.

On Friday, February 2nd, MVHS admin hosted a luncheon in the gym for all students who earned a 4.0 GPA or higher during the 2017 fall term. The whole gym was filled with folding chairs and tables with students eating, socializing, and celebrating their accomplishment. Throughout the luncheon, students were provided a buffet of some of their favorite things: pizza, chips, cookies, fruit, and juices. Students also received gift cards to Starbucks and other favorite food spots.

“I liked it a lot, we got food and played a raffle all while being in the cool air conditioning,” said freshman Iya Enriquez, attending the luncheon for the first time.

A free plate of food and gift cards weren’t the only reason students piled up outside of the doors to the gym. The opportunity gave students a feeling of accomplishment and motivation to continue their efforts through the spring 2018 term.

Emma Schroeter, who is also a freshman, explained, “I liked it, not only because it motivated me to continue to try hard in school, but it was great to see that so many kids did so well last term.”

This term, don’t forget to do your best. If you get a 4.0 or higher, you’ll be invited too! What’s more motivating than food and gifts?
