On January 31st, 2018, Mission Vista High School hosted its first ever 8th Grade Expo for all middle schools in the Vista District. The purpose of this expo was to show potential incoming freshman what their future might look like as a Timberwolf: part inspiration, part motivation!

The showcase included a sampling of the programs and classes that were deemed the most unique offerings at MVHS, including: CTE pathways, PE, creative writing, speech and debate, medical pathways, computer science, digital arts, photography, journalism, and TV film.

Tours were organized for groups of roughly 14 middle school students, lead by teams of two MVHS representatives from ASB, Link Crew, and PLUS.

Students also had an opportunity to gather in the MVHS state-of-the-art theater to appreciate the arts program offered on campus. A specially selected group of VAPA performers, under the guidance of, Creative Arts department chair and music teacher, Mrs. Fennel put on a performance for the eager students.

Visiting 8th graders were also treated to a special meeting with Mrs. Allard, school principal, who inspired the students with a message on what the school is all about, the four by four schedule, and what makes MVHS unique and different.

According to counselors and teachers who organized the event, the post-event feedback from those who attended has been positive. Being that it was the first event of its kind, organizers are able to learn what worked and what may have not worked as well, and how to plan and proceed for next years expo.
