Meet Mrs. Piccolo: New Resource Teacher

On January 16th of this year, a new teacher was hired to work here at Mission Vista. Jacqueline Piccolo is a full time resource teacher for all grade levels.

Resource teachers are specialized educators that focus on students with physical or educational learning disabilities.

Mrs. Piccolo says, “There is often a misconception of whether resource teachers are "real" teachers as our day-to-day looks different from general education teachers, but we have a class, teach lessons, and have a lot of the same duties as general education teachers, in addition to some other responsibilities.”

Before coming to MVHS, Mrs. Piccolo worked at VIDA middle school for a year and a half, mostly with the 6th grade students. Her job involves collaborating with other teachers to ensure the success for their students, so she’s been slowly meeting the teachers and staff.

Mrs. Piccolo also says that, “There are so many students and staff on this campus, but each one I have met so far has left a positive impression of the MVHS culture and experience.”

She graduated from Vista High School in 2008, and received her Masters in Education and teaching credential at Azusa Pacific University. Mrs. Piccolo is very familiar with the vista school district because she also attended Empresa Elementary School and Roosevelt Middle School.

Outside of school, she is a newlywed, has a dog named Lola, and is a huge Harry Potter fan.

Mrs. Piccolo lives by the motto “Work hard and be nice to people,” and hopes to meet more students and staff, and learn the high school curriculum here at Mission Vista.
